Grandpa … What Big Buds You Have!
Justice is a rare and hazardous commodity. Just ask Denver resident …and 87 year old pot growing pehnom – Edward Bogunovich. Do you know how hard it is to grow a few marijuana plants? Let alone getting popped with more than 450 pre flowering females… at age 87. Well it is – and now he is facing criminal charges for all his efforts.
While prosecutors are claiming that Edward Bogunovich can’t grow that much weed, even if he is sick, and a Colorado card carrying medical marijuana patient…
Section 14 of the Colorado Constitution
In reading up on — Article 18, Section 14 of the Colorado Constitution; we see that a medical marijuana patient “may engage in the medical use of marijuana, with no more marijuana than is medically necessary to address a debilitating medical condition.” [source]
So our hard farming grandpa liked to get stoned and grow weed, so what? Well in addition to the 450+ pot plants, he was also charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell about 100 pounds of his home grown chronic. Mr. Bogunovich is not taking this assault on his personal liberties lying down.
In his defense … He claims that in addition to his CO. state mmj card, 3 of his family members also possess their state medical marijuana paper work allowing them to cultivate and dispense the marijuana flowers and plants that they produce.
Unfortunately for our senior pot cultivator… you don’t make to this stage of life (87) without some baggage, things you might do differently now – regrets. So as a means of driving their point home, the Denver D.A. dragged out for all to pounder his past criminal history starting in the 1960’s. Ouch! Who among us could handle that type of spotlight? Certainly not moi.
“… police say his back yard looked like a Sea Of Green.”
The Denver Co. D.A. claims that Mr. Bogunovich was cultivating more than 450 pot plants in the back of his Denver residence. With Colorado’s pot plant limit set at just 6 in total, and 3 for flowering. The Denver D.A. has a pretty good chance at turning the twilight years of this man’s life into legal maze that would bewilder someone half his age.
