At the beginning I was merely pointing out that this is a duplicate thread....a simple search showed that this particular method of poking fun at religious beliefs has already been done. You chose to respond to my observation by bringing up reasons to bash religion (all of which have been beaten to death believe me).

No whining involved although I appreciate the offer.

Perhaps "bashing" was a strong word....but humor meant to poke fun at a group of people or their beliefs or customs will not always be met with a laugh.

That being said....I can see how it could be considered mildly amusing....if it had been posted outside of the charged atmosphere of this particular forum.

Whoa.....I'm not bashing her. When any of us express an opinion we open it up to discussion. Some of us have not been posting on this forum for 3 or 4 years, so when a topic that's been gone over before comes up it gets discussed. I would think that if this has been hashed up before and someone was tired of discussing it, they would just leave it alone and not read it. Go to each discussion board, and I guarantee you there are threads going on that have been discussed before some time ago.

My objections to the fact that this topic had already been discussed was not so much the tedium of rehashing previous discussions so much as it is in seeing the same tired reasons for religious prejudice being brought up.

I often do leave this forum alone (as evidenced by the fact that it took me so long to respond) because it is often hard to continue to fight against the prejudices and broad generalizations that run so rampant here. However it is also because I get tired of seeing the repeated bashing (for lack of a better word) that I also feel the need to read it and sometimes address it.

I do occasionally get short in my responses and for that I apologize. I do not however feel that I am obligated to step back and allow the religion bashing party to proceed unhindered either.
